“Message to attendees of 2015 RIT Alumni Reunion in Los Angeles
Dear friends,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I want to convey our thanks and express our happiness for your attendance at the main event on Saturday at Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel and the picnic at Arup Los Angeles Office on Sunday. We enjoyed the opportunity of having a great time hosting you, and we hope you had a great time too. We realize that it was a major undertaking for everyone to attend the event, especially from out of town (and out of country for many). We appreciate your effort and commitment to keep the “RIT spirit” alive. We are also very grateful for the attendance of a few of our respected sayas/sayamas and very happy to see them healthy and still young at heart.
We are glad to see and to spend quality time with alumni from 1955 to 2011, representing seven Majors and coming from Myanmar, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada and many States in US. We are very sorry that our friends from Northern California experienced a great deal of hardship driving down to attend the event due to the mudslides affecting Interstate Highway 5. We hope you feel the ordeal worthwhile after enjoying the company of many old (or former) and new friends.
You probably noticed we tried our best to give you a different flavor in entertainment at this event. I am very glad it was greatly enhanced by the unexpected and very welcome addition of Ko Thaung Sein’s joyful presentation of “Shwe Mi”, especially after a very interesting prologue suggesting relevance of major countries courting political influence in Myanmar with the story of a village belle portrayed in the song. I think we all discovered a unique  talent for the first time, in our very successful entrepreneur fellow alumni, which we should consider requesting in our future gatherings.
With the achievement of Ko Thaung Sein’s very generous matching donation’s maximum benefit made possible by donations from a few other alumni, we were able to give the attendees very nice presents that we hope you will like and find useful. Overall, we are very happy that it turned out to be a very successful event. Credit goes to all attendees without whom we could not have this event. If there was anything we deliver that fail to meet your expectations, we offer our humble apologies.
I hope that the younger generation will continue to keep the “RIT spirit” alive and make an attempt to plan for the next reunion in the near future.

  1. Please register by contacting an area representative if possible. Online registration is for those who cannot register through a representative.
  2. If you can mail a US bank check payable in US$, write check for registration fee payable to “2015 RIT Alumni Reunion”, and mail to Thura Zin, 19315 Dunbrooke Avenue, Carson, CA 90746. If paid by check, registration will be effective only after check is cleared.
  3. Alternatively, Please pay registration fee and donations using “Paypal”.
  4. Please make sure you fill in menu selection for the dinner at the main event.
  5. Only Alumni and spouse (or one companion) may register. **At the Organization Committee Meeting on 8/30/15, Decision was made to allow attendee alumni from Out-of-town to register for up to TWO additional persons whom they stay with for the event night, and they have to rely on these persons for transportation to the event venue. This also applies to local Attendees who need someone to drive them to the event venue due to health or age reasons.

Following decisions were made by Organizing Committee at the meeting on July 12.

  1. Due to less than anticipated registrations received so far, and having to start installment payments to Knott’s Berry Farm Resort Hotel based on number of attendees, the maximum number of attendees for acceptance will be reduced from 500 to 350.
  1. To provide an incentive to early registration, registration fee will increase from $80 to $100 per attendee starting on 09/18/2015.
  1. In order to enable providing the guaranteed number of attendees to Knott’s Berry Farm Resort Hotel per the contract required date, the last date for acceptance of registrations is announced as September 30, 2015.
  1. No on-site registrations will be allowed.
  2. Please fill the Reg; form with Dinner entree menu selection Chicken/Fish AND Choice of sport shirt style (M/Ladies) and size (S/M/L/XL)
The Organizing committee for 2015 RIT Alumni Reunion is pleased to announce the decision to accept additional registrations until 10/12/15, up to 27 more attendees.
Following conditions apply to all attendees who register after 10/01/2015:
1. Registrations are accepted for Alumni and a companion, and Alumni’s children under 12.
2. Registration Fee will be $100/adult and $50/child.
3. Gifts (only for adults) will be on “if and when available” basis. (We will make attempts to order. New attendees will not receive gift items that are no longer available. If availability is after the event, attendee is responsible for delivery.)
4. There will be no chance for requesting preferred seating assignments.

“Registration is closed. No new attendee will be accepted at the event.”

Announcement of Pre-arranged Bus Tour / For Event Attendees and family/friends

The Organizing Committee is arranging the following tour for the benefit of reunion event attendees from outside of California. A dedicated bus for our group will be arranged if we get enough people interested.
The tour consists of a 3 day, 2 night bus journey to visit Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and Las Vegas. It will start in Los Angeles on the morning of 19 October and will arrive back in Los Angeles on the evening of 21 October. Tourists pay for their own meals for all 3 days.

For US Visa Application at the US Consulate in Yangon, the consular office had instructed that the visa applicant for attending the reunion include a copy of the letter to US Consular from the Organizing Committee of the 2015 RIT Alumni Reunion in Los Angeles (Click “PDF Version Download” button) among documents to be submitted one week prior to the visa interview.
